Book Direct - New Initiative by PK Group of Hotels.

PK Group of Hotels & Apartments has launched its Book Direct program. Hotels pay huge commissions to travel agents like GoIbibo, MakeMyTrip, Booking.com, Agoda, Expedia, Hotels.com, zenhotels.com etc. These travel agents charge huge commissions to Hotels and and have made a monoply in online bookings of hotels and thus with their power do muscle fixing with small hotels.

These Online Travel Agents have different commission brackets for big hotel chains like Taj Hotels, ITC Hotels, Mariott Hotels, Pullman etc. They charge approximately 10% from these hotel chains and on the other hand charge upwards of 20% to 45% from small hotels which are mostly in the budget segment selling rooms from Rs. 1,000-/- to Rs. 3,000-/-. For instance, A small hotel charging guests Rs. 1,000-/- has to pay 45% commission thus it is left by only Rs. 550-/- balance thus margins are reduced and thus leads to quality.

Speaking to Mr. Amit Kapoor director of PK Group of Hotels & Apartments, "We have started a Book Direct Program in which we are offering our guests best prices online through our Direct Booking Platform. We also have a self service portal in which guest can upload there ID's, select their rooms and make payments. This is a completely contact free solution which we are offering our guest due to the pandemic. In Addition, We are giving a guarantee that the guest will get the cheapest possible price while booking us directly. We have started with a Beat the Rate offer where we will beat any discount they are getting online through these travel agents. These travel agents have really spoilt our industry and they do malpractises which should not be allowed to continue. Most small hotels aren't associated with any Associations like FHRAI or HRANI or even if they are these Internet travel companies are evolving and follow malpractises because of increasing competition amongst themselves.

The major culprit of small hotel chains really in dire needs is Oyorooms. Through the millions of dollars recieved as Investments, Oyorooms has transformed the Industry, some for the better but majority for the worse. There commissions are approximately 40% to 50% with the crazy penalties and with an average room selling for Rs. 700-/- on there platform the hotelier receives just a marginal of approx Rs. 400-/-. Most Oyo properties are not mantained and there majority clients use rooms for hourly basis. Such is the condition of this self proclaimed largest hotel chain in the world, that there rooms are untidy and there is no service.

PK Group has a policy of not associating with Oyorooms, FabHotels or Treebo and has been an independent hotelier since its inception; But with Covid'19 &illegal practises by these OTA's & specially OYO; We have decided to follow our own route, sell our hotels online through our own portals, give them value prices with our promise of amazing services and focus more on retention rather then aggressive marketing to fuel sustainable growth.

We request our customers who have been our teachers throughout our journey to support us by booking us directly and we promise best rates and services in return. Let us keep independent hotel chains alive otherwise these Venture capitalists will erode the market for both the customers & hoteliers.
